Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Finals was epic. It was amazingly close, with action up to the final second. I was really surprised, yet happy that the Penguins upset the Redwings. Richard came over to watch.
After, we had April's graduation party. After that, I met up with Josh and Leah for Josh's birthday party. It was really boring with Josh's classmates only talking about school, and Leah's friends in a separate group.

I went to this year's Live 105 BFD music festival at Shoreline. I was only interested in seeing Metric, so they're the only band I stayed for. I have a big crush on Emily Haines. She's very active on stage, much like an aerobics instructor. I think she sings better when she sits still, like in those Metric "The Rawside of..." videos. I'm glad I got to see them. They are the last of my favorite bands I had not seen. My live concert collection is now complete. These pictures are from Metric's radio interview. Emily seemed spacy, in a cute way.

I ran into Lorrie at Cosco. The next day she invited me over for a BBQ. Met all of her BMW club friends. It was boring too (mostly guys) but the food was good. First time seeing Anthony in a couple years.

I went to the De Leveaga disc golf course with Paul and Lounis. Found 1 disc and lost 2. I worked on my footwork for throwing drives. We had lunch at a mexican place next to the beach in Capitola. Pretty good outing.

The next day hung out with Josh and Paul. Played poker. We played for pushups. I won the second game. | | |

After meaning to catch them 2 times prior, I finally saw m83. I went to their show at the Mezzanine. It was the first time I had been to that club. It's a nice and trendy place. They had this weird thing where people paying 100 dollars could get a booth, but then later let people sit anywhere. I talked to this couple from Seattle for a bit. The girl was a street teamer and I scored a poster and a cd. I had a few beers for something to do between bands. The opener was really good, James Yuill. Definitely check him out if you like electronic music. I was happy that m83 played my favorite songs. They weren't very talkative with the crowd, not as intimate as I prefer. There was a decent sized crowd. They were very liberal with the smoke effect.

On one of my many trips to the mens room, this girl with a short cut accidentally followed me and a group of guys. She laughed and put her hand on my arm. That was my action for the night. After the show I got some pizza down the street to help sober up before driving back.

I watched a ton of the US version of the Office on Netflix. I think I've changed because the show wasn't as intensely awkward as when I watched it occasionally during normal airing. I could sense a definite change in the tone of the show as the seasons went on. Jan's nueroticism was pretty interesting. Holly was an amazing character. The sheer number of office parties was absurd. I tried watching the UK version, but I couldn't root for the characters the same way. Tim seems to pull pranks more for stupidity rather than to cope with work, as I believe Jim does. Also, David seems more malicious than foolish a la Michael Scott.
I wonder where the Office will go from here. They already introduced the Erin character, as well as Andy earlier. Doesn't seem like Erin will have more depth though. Maybe the office will bring new people and change the cast completely every once in a while, like they did with ER.

I finally remembered to go down to the First Friday art open house they have in downtown San Jose, and it happened to be the bigger annual subZero event. Went with April. David happened to be playing that night too. The tech influenced art was interesting. I really liked the current exhibit at the quilts and textiles gallery they had really great catered food. Lentil salad is really tasty. We had dinner at the House of Siam thai place. The live music they had was cool. Ben Henderson put on a pretty good show, especially with his brontosaurus float.

So I found out there's a greek festival in San Jose every year. Had no idea. I went with April for a little bit. I used "free" coupons Luan posted on Facebook.
It was a nice change of pace from the Obon festival in Japantown, which has been the same for as long as I can remember. The food looked and smelled good, particularly the desserts. They had a tent with music and kids dancing. Usual vendors selling art and jewelery too. It would be a fun local date.
